Invisible Child - Source Notes - The New York Times

Every newspaper should try to do this. Why not?

Invisible Child: Dasani’s Homeless Life - The New York Times

This appears to be magnificent reporting. Bravo to The New York Times! It reminds me, moreover, of how valuable it would be to see the same sort of thorough reporting applied to the homeless of other countries so that we can better understand the plight of all of the Dasani's of the world. What a wonderful cooperative reporting opportunity that is.

Machine That Printed Chaucer to Be Auctioned by Christie’s - NYTimes.com

What an opportunity for any newspaper!

One of so many

Today I was reminded why newspapers can so easily tick off their best customers. I called The New York Times because we did not receive a print copy by 7 AM. The first journey through the voice prompts told me only that I would credit for the missed paper. The next try finally got me to a person who said that the deadline for reporting a missed paper each morning is 6 AM!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, nothing I can do I was told. At about 8:30 AM, one of the local delivery managers appeared on our doorstep with a fresh copy of today's paper. I feel good about him and irritated unnecessarily by the Times costing me morning minutes just to be told sorry, can't help you. There are important dots there that badly need connecting.
